It’s been a few months since I’ve posted and I apologize to my regular readers. It’s been a very busy summer and fall both at work and in my personal life. I’ve had some vacation time, been on a couple courses, out of town at a conference, taught a couple courses and was the secondary field trainer for our platoon’s latest recruit. I was finally back to what felt like a normal work block recently and got a message from one of our dispatchers “It feels like I haven’t heard from you in months!”.
I had the opportunity to help out with this year’s Student Police Academy and teach the students drill as well I was the parade commander for their graduation parade. We had an exceptional 24 students turn out this year.
As you’ll see in the video Cst. Pitcairn describes the hiring process for police as a marathon. He’s correct! It’s quite a lengthy process but in the end it’s for a fantastic 30 year career.
As a School Liaison Officer in Delta I have come to realize the demands of my assignment require me to fall back to my experiences as a Police Officer, a community member, a parent and colleague to some amazing dedicated teachers.
I mentioned recently in a tweet that I’d been quite busy lately and on June 7th the Delta Police and the Delta Police Pipe Band were on Parade to consecrate the new Delta Police flag.
2013 marks the 125th anniversary of the Delta Police Department. We’ve had a new badge provided by the Chief Herald and with that adopted a new flag. Adopting or consecrating a new flag has a long standing Military and para-Military tradition. Continue reading Delta Police Flag Consecration
