This block we worked the weekend leading up to Valentines day. The weekend before any sort of holiday or event tends to be busy as some people take the opportunity to celebrate on the weekend. I also worked a modified Charlie shift only having a partner for 1 of the 4 shifts.
Well ladies and gentlemen, this will be the last post for 2012, the first year for this blog. December has been fairly short on updates, it’s been a busy month both at work and at home with the family.
On the home front, we’ve added a new member to our family with the adoption of Major. A 5 month old German Shepard mix that we fell in love with at the Delta Community Animal Shelter. My wife has never had a dog, and our boys are still pretty young so it’s been a bit of an adjustment but Major is settling in very well and is a part of our family. He’s as goofy as our boys are with the energy to match!
This block I worked the charlie shift and aside from our standard activities of checking curfews, attempting to locate people with warrants for their arrest and focussing on the priorities set by the management team I had a few unique calls so I thought I’d write this block’s post a little differently.
Day shift #1
To cover for some of the platoon on leave I was back in my old zone for the day. On the way there I took a report that a truck was stolen from outside a residence. After some follow up for that I was dispatched to a single vehicle collision. I arrived on scene to find an SUV had lost control, struck 2 parked vehicles and pushed a parked pickup truck up over the curb and into a telephone pole. Continue reading Broken hearts
