I spent the morning returning voicemail, making phone calls and following up with some investigations. In the late morning I was dispatched to a Break and Enter involving an apartment building under construction. Several suites had been damaged and the building itself sustained a significant amount of damage from several water leaks caused by the thieves. I spent the rest of the shift going through the building with the owner and construction manager and then our forensic identification section. With some potential leads this will be an ongoing investigation, especially when you consider the amount of the theft and substantial damage. This was no doubt a part of the perpetual cycle of crime to feed a drug addiction.
This block we worked the weekend leading up to Valentines day. The weekend before any sort of holiday or event tends to be busy as some people take the opportunity to celebrate on the weekend. I also worked a modified Charlie shift only having a partner for 1 of the 4 shifts.
Well ladies and gentlemen, this will be the last post for 2012, the first year for this blog. December has been fairly short on updates, it’s been a busy month both at work and at home with the family.
On the home front, we’ve added a new member to our family with the adoption of Major. A 5 month old German Shepard mix that we fell in love with at the Delta Community Animal Shelter. My wife has never had a dog, and our boys are still pretty young so it’s been a bit of an adjustment but Major is settling in very well and is a part of our family. He’s as goofy as our boys are with the energy to match!
With summer holidays winding down, newly promoted Sergeants and some specialty section transfers our platoon is going through a bit of a shuffle. If you’ve been following along you’ll know I’ve recently spent a fair amount of time covering in another zone. As of next block I’m transferring to that zone and we’ll have a new Sergeant as our road boss. This isn’t going to be a major shift for me as I’ve been working with the platoon mates off and on for the last couple months. I am looking forward to the consistency though.
