On our day shifts we received information that a suspect who was wanted for a violent robbery in Surrey was at a residence in our zone. We arrived on scene as the suspect was attempting to leave and arrested him in the backyard before he could get away. The shift was spent on follow ups and clearing off some paper work. I had to go out to Surrey Memorial Hospital and pickup some medical records as requested by Crown Counsel for an assault victim. One of the victims of the theft where we caught the suspect last block called in to report more property that they had found missing.
Day shift #1
Our recruit rode with me for the day, we took some routine calls and I let her deal with all of the complainants and subjects. She’s almost ready to head back to the Academy for her Block III training phase.
“The boot” – An affectionate term used to refer to a recruit or a rookie. The term has roots in the military and policing, as the recruit is expected to maintain a pristine uniform including well polished and shined uniform boots.
